This strange, fox-like animal is wandering into our garden in the Dromana Hills, Mornington Peninsula.
The animal has pronounced, dark markings round the eyes, but most remarkable is that the back appears to be striped and then the rear quarters appear hairless!

Today, around 11am, I took these photos from my back verandah, which is well above the ground, and I am looking into a neighbour’s back garden with my camera lens on full zoom.

The animal appeared to be making a rather disturbing, loud spitting sound ~ a bit like clearing large spittle in the back of the throat.

And the animal could have been eating. I could hear a crunching sound in between spitting sounds.

Kool post. No matter what, somethings will always remain mystery.

In fact, I myself have been trying to solve the mystery of the legend that forces you to have “earn it before

having it”, for a wile now. Could not understand much though.

Let me know in case you get to understand the mystery of the Old Hound and the Legend

By the way, good writing style. I’d love to read more on similar topics

I have no idea what that little creature is! Is he a funny looking Tasmanian Devil that migrated to Dromona Hills? Not likely I know, but I’m completely baffled! Hope you find out what he is as I’d love to know!

How curious, it looks like a fox with a severe case of sarcoptic mange, a burrowing mite that causes loss of hair and skin , so sad, this is a miserable disease and highly contagious and will eventually cause death.

Interesting that you should capture this poor creatures plight…

He is a scary strange visitor. Looks like a mutant fox. Send your pics to a museum they may be able to help you.
Would you be able to teach me how to put a link in the comments box ?

Gemma: It does look like a fox that has the mange and has lost its hair.

You are right! A park ranger saw this guy and confirmed it! He said the fox had little time to live. We have not seen it in recent days!
