Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Walkway at Red Hill Consolidated school
~

It is amazing ~
I wasn’t looking for an answer
But I found one
~
Today was once flecked
With sunlight
But grew into a grey afternoon
With dramatic billows
Of cloud ~
I wanted pics
Desperately ~
But the gods schemed
To railroad me
Where I had no intention
Of going
~
I drove down into
Main Ridge
Through glorious caverns
Of magical
Fluctuating
Stormy light ~
But there was nowhere
To park
To even stop
Because the holiday traffic
To vineyard heaven
Kept close
Bumper bar watch
Over my every move
~
I turned down some unknown road
Narrow
Twisting
Circling ~
Circling all the way
Back
To where I began
~
But I found somewhere to park
Opposite the village shops ~
Stepped out of my car ~
And precocious
Intermittent
Drizzling
Rain
Happily squelched
My brief moment of joy
~
However
I am stubborn
~
A village school
Waited
Right in front of my car
Complete with a range
Of well-sheltered walkways
~
So I wandered in and found treasures ~
A mosaic tiled lounge
Birdfeeders
Painted in Dreaming ochres
Hung from trees
And there
Lining the walkways
Were posts
Painted posts ~
Painted in the blue of the sea
Dotted with ceremonial light
And touched
With the shape
Of a child’s hand
~
The answer
To the strange posts
By the roadside
At Red Hill
Perhaps lay
In this world
Of children
Our future
~
I felt quite strange
As if some Greater Being
Wanted me to make
The connection
~
